Stress and anxiety are two words that feature more and more in everyday vocabulary.  Between life pressures and a pandemic where fear has been the tool utilised to communicate with the public, we have noticed a significant increase in mental health problems relating to stress and anxiety.  Helping people to manage and control stress and anxiety is now one of the number one reasons people come to see me.

Some stress can be healthy, directing a person to meet deadlines, achieve more and encouraging people to test boundaries. But too much stress and anxiety can become a problem quite quickly and a person can withdraw, disrupting quality and enjoyment of life.

While external circumstances may provide a trigger for the stress or anxiety it is generally driven from within, that is, a person’s internal belief and values system. Unrealistic expectations, rigid ideas, perfectionism, even beliefs developed from a childhood comment or experience can all contribute to creating a life with anxiety.
